Gugure! Kokkuri-san Episode 12

DESTINY!

Christmas (Christianity), Joya no Kane (Buddhism), Hatsumōde (Shinto), and Otoshidama (Confucianism)...
Multi-religious or no-religious culture of Japan is strongly reflected around the turn of the year.

浮かれモードです。
 Ukare mode desu
― Everyone is in high spirits.

●人形はクリスマスに浮かれないのです。
 Ningyou wa kurisumasu ni ukarenai nodesu
― Dolls do not get excited by Christmas.

浮かれる(ukareru): be in high spirits, make merry

●コックリさんの言うパーリーなバーレルを買って帰るのです。
 Kokkuri-san no iu party na barrel wo katte kaeru nodesu
― I am going to purchase a party bucket of chiken for Kokkuri-san, then go home.

Her pronunciation of "party" sounds native and cynical on purpose.

Probably "ヴルヴ…味" means Volvic.

●これ若返りの水なんだぞ!
 Kore wakagaeri no mizu
― This is rejuvenating water!

バブじゃ分かんねぇよバカ!
 Babu ja wakanneeyo baka
― I don't understand "goo goo," idiot!

バブー (babuuu) is an onomatopoeia that describes a baby's cry.

― It's a red leaf.

This word has two readings.
  1. Momiji: the Japanese maple tree
  2. Kouyou: colored leaves, turning red

― Don't make me sound like an exhibitionist!

― It's the companion of any man on a liquor ban: ethanol disinfectant.

猫神タマの一目惚れ!
Neko Gami Tama no Hitomebore
― Cat God Tama's love at First Sight!

Tama is a well-known name of cat in Japan. As for dog, Pochi is a stereotypical name. It's like some Spot in America.

●それはある昼下がり、私は一目惚れしたのですわ。
 Sore ha aru hirusagari Watakushi ha hitomebore shita nodesuwa
― It happened one afternoon... I fell in love at first sight.

●告白するとすれば私、末期の人形フェチだにゃ。
 Kokuhaku suruto sureba watakushi makki no ningyou fechi danya
― If there's a confession to be made, it's that I have a fetish for macabre dolls.

末期の: terminal

●勘違い恥ずかしい!
 Kanchigai hazukashii
― What an embarrassing misunderstanding!

羞恥心付け込みお人形さん頂きにゃ!
 Shuuchishin ni tsukekomi oningyou-san itadaki nya
― I'll take advantage of your humiliation to steal your doll!

こひなと一つ目と信楽!
Kohina to Hitotsume to Shigaraki
― Kohina, the Cyclops, and Shigaraki!

It's also called 隻眼(sekigan).

●最近、譲ちゃんが空中を見てぼーっとしている。
 Saikin jouchan ga kuuchuu wo mite bou tto shiteiru
― Lately, the little girl's been staring blanky into the air a lot.

●こひなが本格的に電波な子に!
 Kohina ga hontakutekini denpa na ko ni
― She really is becoming detached from humanity now!

机の花はメッセージ!
Tsukue no Hana wa Message
― The Flowers on the Desk are a Message!


●我が君には私のスールになって頂きたいのでございます。
 Wagakimi niha watashi no soeur ni natte itadakitainode gozaimasu
― My darling, I want you to be my soeur.

The word reminds me a yuri anime "Maria-sama ga Miteru."
It's translated into Japanese as 姉妹(shimai).

●我が家は一人っ子政策実施中だ。
 Wataya ha hitorikko seisaku jisshi chuu da
― Out household has a one-child policy.

駄犬は巣に帰れ!
 Daken ha su ni kaere
― Go back to your den, you mongre!

Gugure! Kokkuri-san Episode 4

気になるアイツはSF系!
Ki ni naru aitsu ha SF-kei
― The One on My Mind is Into Sci-Fi!


●いと煩わし。
 Ito wazurawashi
― What a nuisance.

Archaic style.

●よし家政婦ゲット。
 Yoshi kaseifu get
― All right. I got a housekeeper.

●今すぐ四国へ帰れ!古だぬき! / やつは化け狸信楽
 Imasugu Shikoku he kaere furu-danuki / Yatsuha bake-danuki no Shigaraki
― Go back to Shikoku, you tanuki geezer! / This is the tanuki ghost, Shigaraki.

Tanuki refers to Japanese raccoon dog.
As with kitsune (fox), tanuki features strongly in Japanese folk culture.
There are especially many legends of tanuki in 四国(Shikoku), the smallest of Japan's four main islands.

They often place tanuki figures of 信楽焼(Shigaraki-yaki) at store fronts, wishing for good luck in business with a pun "他抜き(tanuki: surpass others)."

Sometimes, Kohina uses a quaint expression.


●あまりの残念さに放っておくのもどうかと思い、乗りで取り憑いた。
 Amari no zannensa ni houtteoku nomo douka to omoi nori de toritsuita
― I was unable to abandon her after seeing how unfortunate she was, and decided to haunt her.

― Have you ever played the Kokkuri-san divination game with someone?

●狐の霊を呼び出し、参加メンバー達の人差し指が触れた硬貨によって質問の回答を得る
 Kitsune no rei wo yobidashi sanka member tachi no hitosasiyubi ga fureta kouka ni yotte shitsumon no kaitou wo eru
― Players summon a fox ghost to answer questions by moving the coin their index fingers are touching.
