SPACE DANDY Episode 23

2nd season Episode 10

恋人たちはトレンディじゃんよ
Koibito tachi ha trendy janyo
― Lovers Are Trendy, Baby

In Japan, romantic drama called "トレンディドラマ(Trendy Drama)" was pupular around 1990.
Though it's a Japanese-English word, the term "trendy" itself has sounded a bit old-fashioned for us.
Trendy Drama doesn't have formal definition, but has the following features.
  1. Both hero and heroine are young and popular actors.
  2. Main characters are handsome and beautiful.
  3. They live in condo above their means, which have no lived-in feel.
  4. It reflects place and lifestyle that drew attention at the time.
  5. Character diagram is complicated, but definitely not messy.
