検問する(kenmon suru): inspect, examine, check
thimble: 指ぬき(yubinuki)

謙遜のことだと思います。

― I think she means "humble."

謙遜する(kenson suru): be modest, humble

It is classically used as a kind of charm to overcome the fear of performing in front of people, but the origin is unknown.
Also potatoes are common.

お陰様って良い言葉ですよね。

The word "お陰様", which expresses gratitude, consists of the honorific 'o', the word 'kage' (meaning benefit from others), and the honorific 'sama'.
