Encouragement of Climb Season 2 Episode 12

Dear My Friend

The horse mascot is a PR character of Hanno city, named 夢馬(Mu-ma).


集権的官僚国家の基礎をつくったと言われる聖徳太子だが、
 Shuukenteki kanryou kokka no kiso wo tsukutta to iwareru Shoutoku Taishi daga
― It is said that Prince Shoutoku developed the baseline for a centralized bureaucratic state,

●本当に存在したのかと疑う声も少なくはない。
  hontouni sonzai shita no ka to utagau koe mo sukunaku ha nai
― however, its been debated wheter or not he acturally existed.

●聖徳太子は馬で空を飛んで富士山に行ったっていう伝説があるんだ。
 Shoutoku Taishi ha uma de sora wo tonde Fujisan ni itta tte iu densetsu ga arunda
― There's a legend that says Prince Shoutoku rode a flying horse to Mt. Fuji.

●富士山から帰ってきた後、何となくひなたと顔を合わせづらくて。
 Fujisan kara kaettekita ato nantonaku Hinata to kao wo awasezurakute
― We haven't spoken since we retuned form Mt. Fuji.

●ひなたの方も珍しく私に気を遣っているみたいで。
 Hinata no hou mo mezurashiku watashi ni ki wo tsukatteiru mitai de
― Normally she wouldn't be this considerate.

ザックの中身、片付けなくちゃ。
 Zakku no nakami katazukenakucha
― I still haven't unpacked my backpack.

It's derived from rucksack.

●私ぬいぐるみなんていつ買ったっけ?
 Watashi nuigurumi nante itsu kattakke
― When did I buy the stuffed toy?

○似たようなぬいぐるみが置いてあるとする。

― there were similar stuffed animals lying around.

― And messaging her feels out of place.

●じゃあ北アルプスを縦走してくる!

― All right! I'm off to walk the Northern Alps!

It's a common name for 飛騨山脈(the Hida Mountains).
This, 木曽山脈(the Kiso Mountains) and 赤石山脈(the Akaishi Montains) are collectively called "日本アルプス(Japanese Alps)".

大キレット越えてくるから。
 Daikiretto koete kuru kara
― I'm going to attempt the Daikiretto!

The Daikiretto (meaning 'big cut') is V-sharped narrow ridge and known for one of the most challenging hiking trails in Japan.
キレット is derived from "切れっ戸".

●あれから心にぽっかり穴が空いたみたい。
 Are kara kokoro ni pokkari ana ga aita mitai
― Ever since then it's felt like there's been a hole in my heart.

●何をしてもすっきりしない。
 Nani wo shitemo sukkiri shinai
― And nothing seems to fill it.

●何でひなたがこんなに達筆なんだか。
 Nande Hinata ga konnani tappitsu nandaka
― How does Hinata have such good handwriting?

●いやぁ最初はその辺のとか。
 Iyaa saisho ha sono hen no oka toka
― I was thinking maybe a nearby hill to start with...

●そんな中途半端でどうすんの?
  Sonna chuuto-hanpa de dousunno
― How can you be so half-hearted?

●前は息が切れてたのに、前よりも全然登れる。

― Last time I was barely able to climb it, but now it's easy.

○歩いてるだけなのに走ってるみたいに息が切れる
 Aruiteru dake nanoni hashitteru mitai ni iki ga kireru
― Even though we're just walking, I'm running out of breath as if we were running.


●なんか散歩みたい。
 Nanka sanpo mitai
― It's like I'm going for a walk.

●どうしてここに?!
 Doushite koko ni
― Why are you here?!

●天覧山って書いてあったからちょっと懐かしくなって。
 Tenranzan tte kaite atta kara chotto natsukashiku natte
― you mentioned Mt. Tenran and it brought back memories.

散歩。偶然だね。
 Sanpo Guuzen dane
― Just out for a stroll. Quite the coincidence.

●この後、多峰主山に行こうと思ってるんだけど。
 Kono ato Tounosuyama ni ikou to omotterun dakedo
― After this, I thought I'd head over to Mt. Tounosu.

●というかここからが本番かな。
 Toiuka koko kara ga honban kana
― Acturally, you could say that the real thing starts here.

●ここ見返り坂って言うんだよ。
 Koko makaerizaka tte iun dayo
― This place used to be called the "Hill of Return".

●昔々どっかの偉い人がここで何回も振り返ったんだって。
 Mukashi mukashi dokka no erai hito ga koko de nankai mo furikaettan datte
― A long time ago a renowned individual kept returning to this place.

It is said that Tokiwa gozen (the mother of Minamoto no Yoshitsune) turned around many times because the scenery was too nice.

●さっぱり説明になってない!
 Sappari setsumei ni nattenai
― Your explanation lacks content!

スカイツリーだ!
 Sky Tree da
― It's the Sky Tree!

Tokyo Sky Tree is the tallest structure in Japan at 634 metres.

●失敗しちゃったのが辛くて、同じくらい悔しくて
 Shippai shichatta no ga tsurakute onnaji kurai kuyashikute
― I couldn't accept that I failed. And I was frustrated.

●やっぱりまた山に登りたい。
 Yappari mata yama ni noboritai
― and I really would like to try climbing mountains again.

●そうだ、転んでも立ち上がればいい。

― That's right. If you fall down, you just have to stand up.

●一人では辛くても付き合ってくれる友達がいる。
 Hitori deha tsurakutemo tsukiatte kureru tomodachi ga iru
― It may be hard to do on your own, but that's why you have friends.

●半分こしよ。
 Hanbunko shiyo
― so let's split it.

●おじいちゃんか!

― ...you seem like an old man!

●少しずつでも歩いていけば、いつしか足は頂きに届いてるはずだから。
 Sukoshi zutsu demo aruite ikeba itsushika ashi ha itadaki ni todoiteru hazu dakara
― As long as you keep walking and moving forward, you'll be at the top before you even know it.
