Encouragement of Climb Season 2 Episode 9

初めまして、富士山

― We Finally Meet, Mt. Fuji!

I learned about Mt. Fuji from it.
The following names appear as the roles of foreigners in the credits.

いよいよ富士山に登る日がやってきました。

Finally! It's the day we climb Mt. Fuji.

●富士山の登山シーズンは7月上旬から9月中旬までです。
 Fuji-san no tozan seazon ha shiti-gatsu joujun kara ku-gatsu chuujun made desu
― The season for climbing Mt. Fuji from early July to mid-September.

●シーズンオフの富士登山は非常に危険ですので、一般の方の登山はお控えください。
 Season off no Fuji tozan ha hijou ni kiken desu node ippan no kata no tozan ha ohikae kudasai
― Climbing Mt. Fuji in the off-season is very dangerous, so the public is requested to refrain from it.

During the off-season, huts and public lavatories are closed above the 5th station.

5合目でもう標高2300mくらいだから
 Go-goume de mou hyoukou 2300m kurai dakara
― That's because the 5th Station is about 2,300 metres above sea level.

●下より10℃以上温度が低いはずよ。
  Shita yori 10-do ijou ondo ga hikui hazu yo
― The air should be about 10 degrees cooler than at the base.

●富士山の高さって確か3776mだったから
 Fuji-san no takasa tte tashika 3776m datta kara
― If I remember correctly, Mt. Fuji has a height of 3,776 metres.

半分だと1888m、5合目って半分の高さじゃないんですね。
 Habbun dato 1888m go-goume tte hanbun no takasa ja nain desu ne
Half of that would be 1888 metres, which means that the 5th Station isn't the half way point.

●何合目というのは高さや距離とは関係ないみたい。
 Nan goume to iu noha takasa ya kyori toha kankei nai mitai
― It seems that the station number doesn't have anything to do with distance or elevation.

一説には登山の辛さを基準にして決められた、と言われているわ。
 Issetsu niha tozan no tsurasa wo kijun ni shite kimerareta to iwarete iru wa
― I heard they're based on how difficult it is to climb.

一説には: according to a theory

●例えば5合目から6合目よりも6合目から7合目、更に7合目から8合目の方が距離が短いんだけど
 Tatoeba go-goume kara roku-goume yori mo roku-goume kara nana-goume sarani nana-goume kara hati-goume no hou ga kyori ga mijikain dakedo
― For example, it means that going from the 6th Station to the 7th is more difficult than going from the 5th Station to 6th. Likewise, going from the 7th Station to 8th is more difficult than both of those.

The blue part isn't translated.

→ A distance between 6th & 7th is shorter than one between 5th & 6th, and one between 7th & 8th is shorter than both of those.

●段々と道が険しくなって同じくらい疲れるの。
 Dandan to michi ga kewashiku natte onaji kurai tsukareru no
― The steeper the path becomes, the more tiring it becomes.

― So, how about we go have lunch while we let ourselves acclimate?

●富士山はね、標高が高いから高山病になりやすいの。
 Fuji-san ha ne hyoukou ga takai kara kouzanbyou ni nariyasui no
― With Mt. Fuji being as tall as it is, you can get altitude sickness.

●標高が高い所で無理をすると頭痛がしたり気持ち悪くなったりするの。
 Hyoukou ga takai tokoro de muri wo suru to zutsuu ga shitari kimochiwaruku nattari suru no
― If you push yourself too hard at high altitude, you'll get a headache or feel sick.

●大体の場合はふもとに降りたらケロッと治っちゃうものなんだけどね。
 Daitai no baai ha fumoto ni oritara kerotto naocchau mono nandakedo ne
― Though, you should feel better once you return to level ground.

― Something like Wantan? Or an egg-bound soup? Or maybe grated yam? Whipped cream!

●これが爆発カレー。ご飯が富士山で福神漬溶岩なんだね。
 Kore ga bakuhatsu currry. Gohan ga Fuji-san de fukujinzuke ga yougan nanda ne
― So this is the volcanic curry! The rice is Mt. Fuji, and the soy sauce battered vegetables are the lava.

福神漬 is popular as a relish of curry and rice, along with pickled shallots.

普通のラーメンだったけど美味しかったですね。

Melonpan is not traditionally melon flavored.
The name originates from its resemblance to cantaloupe.
But this Mt. Fuji Melonpan is shaped like Mt. Fuji.

Pilgrim staves. You get these branched at the huts you come across as you climb to the peak.

焼印が全部集まったら良い記念になりますよ。
 Yakiin ga zenbu atsumattara ii kinen ni narimasu yo
― Once you collect all the brandings, it'll be a great keepsake.

The origin is a custom to dedicate horses to shrines.

●今のところ全然楽チンだね。
 Ima no tokoro zenzen rakuchin dane
― It's not too bad around here.

●最後までこんな感じなら楽勝ってそんなわけないか。
 Saigo made konna kanji nara rakushou tte sonna wake nai ka
― Climbing to the top will be a piece of cake if it's this easy. But there's no way it'll be this easy.

Barakamon Episode 8
○大人の身長があれば高い位置まで見えるから楽勝
 Otona no shinchou ga areba takai ichi made mieru kara rakushou
― If you're as tall as an adult, you can see from above, so it'll be a cinch.

●富士山には須走ルート御殿場ルートなどいくつもの登山ルートがあります。
 Fuji-san ni ha Subashiri route ya Gotenba route nado ikutsumono tozan route ga arimasu
― Mt. Fuji has the Subashiri Route, the Gotenba Route, as well as others.

●私たちは一番一般的な吉田ルートを登ります。
 Watashi tachi ha ichiban ippantekina Yoshida route wo noborimasu
― We are taking the Yoshida Route, which is the most common.

●そこで山小屋に泊まりしっかり休養をとってから山頂に向かいます。
 Sokode yamagoya ni tomari shikkari kyuuyou wo totte kara sanchou ni mukaimasu
― Once we get there, we'll get a good night's rest before continuing to the summit.

●山小屋は他にもたくさんあるので無理せず適度に休憩しながら登る予定です。

― As there are a lot of mountain huts, we'll rest on the way as we climb to ensure we don't overexert ourselves.

麩(fu): processed food made with wheat gluten
There are some kinds, which are 生麩(namafu), 焼き麩(yakifu), and 揚げ麩(agefu).

 Suggo-i! Panpan da!
― Wow! The bag's huge!

パンパン: stretched, full

気圧の差ですね。
 Kiatsu no sa desu ne
― Must be due to the pressure difference.

●あれで山小屋に食べ物や水を運んでるのね。
