― Buddist chanting and dancing

Do you know what お盆(obon) is?
It is a Japanese Buddhist custom to welcome back the spirits of ancestors who return to their homes around the 15th of August.
I'd say it is similar to Halloween.
It is intriguing that there is a wide regional variation even in the same Japan.
Now, we can learn some names of insects in this episode.

●蓮華
　renge
― china spoon

"蓮華" originally means lotus.
Because china spoon looks like a petal of lotus, it is called so.

●ガキの誕生会に会費とるのか?!
　Gaki no tanjoukai ni kaihi toru no ka
― You're charging fees for a kid's birthday?!

●私らの小遣いじゃホール買えないから。
　Watashi ra no kodukai ja ho-ru kaenai kara
― With our allowances, we can't buy a whole cake.

●一郎と二郎は何をやるんだ？ ／ 適当な名前つけんな！
― Ichiro, Jiro? What are you guys bringing? ／ Those aren't our names!

They are common names given to boys according to their birth order.

1. 一郎 (Ichiro): first son
2. 二郎/次郎 (Jiro): second son
3. 三郎 (Saburo): third son
4. 四郎(Shiro): fourth son
5. 五郎(Goro): fifth son, and so on...

●クワガタをやろう！

●先生って虫とり舐めちょるよね。

― Sensei's not takin' beetle catchin' seriously.

●大人の身長があれば高い位置まで見えるから楽勝。
　Otona no shinchou ga areba takai ichi made mieru kara rakushou
― If you're as tall as an adult, you can see from above, so it'll be a cinch.

●カブトムシが一匹も取れんようじゃ、なるに愛想つかさるっで。
　Kabutomushi ga ippiki mo toren you ja Naru ni aiso tukasaru dde
― Naru's gonna be so let down if ya can't even catch one beetle!

愛想を尽かす: give up on → 愛想をつかされる [passive]→ 愛想つかさる [dialect]

●カナブンでした！だっせー！
　Kanabun deshita dasse-
― Lame! That's a drone beetle!

●これがあれば鬼に金棒だ。
　Kore ga are ba oni ni kanabou da
― It'll be a cinch with this.

鬼に金棒 [proverb]: make one even stronger
It literally means "ogre with an iron club."

●なんでこんなに艶々してんだ？ゴキブリと変わんねぇよ！
　Nnde konnani tsuyatsuya shitennda? Gokiburi tokawannee yo
― Why's it so glossy? It's no different from a roach!

●もはや才能やろこんドジさは…
　Mohaya sainou yaro kon dojisa ha
― Being this big a klutz is almost like a talent...

●私はプチプチば持ってきたよ。
　Watashi ha puchipuchi motte kita yo
― I brought her some bubble wrap!

"プチプチ" is onomatopoeia and a trade name.
Speaking of that, a toy named "∞プチプチ(Mugen Puti Puti)" was once popular.

●私はクジャクの羽根拾ってきた。
　Watshi ha kujaku no hane hirotte kita
― I picked up some peacock feathers.

Where did she pick up them?? Could it be that there are wild peacocks?!

●お前らなるのツボを理解してるな。
　Omaera Naru no tsubo wo rikai shiteru na
― You girls sure know what'll click with Naru.

I expected a work of calligraphy as present, though.

― Firecrackers?! That's so tasteless!

罰当たりな: disrespectful, sacrilegious

●先生、まずはとろ立てせんば！
　Sensei mazu ha toro-tate sen ba
― Sensei, we gotta light the toro first.

とろ ← 灯篭(tourou): lantern

●落下傘！
　Rakkasan
― Chutes!

●そもそも夕方には参らないし、生米を供えたりしない。
　Somosomo yuugata niha mairanai shi namagome wo sonaetari shinai
― In the first place, we don't pay a visit in the evening. And no rice grains are offered.

●花火しないし、浴衣着ない。提灯並べない。
　Hanabi shinai si yukata kinai chouchin narabenai
― No fireworks. No yukata. No lining of lanterns.

●墓石の文字も金色っておかしいだろ？
　Boseki no moji mo kiniro tte okashii daro
― Isn't it weird having the gravestone etched in gold?

I was thinking just this was normal.
These customs are seen in Nagasaki Prefecture rather than this island.

●オンデよ。初盆の家の墓で踊っと。
　Onde yo Hatsuｂon no ie no mae de odotto
― This is the Onde. Peopｌe dance in front graves less than a year old.

初盆: the first Bon after the death of a family member.

●あれって日本語に訳すとどういう意味なんだ？
　Are tte nihongo ni yakusu to douiu imi nanda
― What does that translate to in Japanese?

What a beautiful voice...
But I couldn't catch what he was singing at all, too.

●先生！ねずみ花火！
　Sensei Nzumi-hanabi
― Sensei! Pinwheel firecracker!

Sensei running away like a cat.

●どうせ放っておいても勝手に成長するんだろうけど。
　Douse houtteoitemo katte ni seichou surun darou kedo
― She'll probably grow even if I don't do anything...

Naru exactly has the right image for a sunflower.

●だんぽで釣りをしてる姿がさまになってきたんじゃねぇか。
　Danpo de tsuri wo shiteru sugata ga sama ni natte kitannja neeka
― You're looking natural there, fishing at this here hole.

Though the term "だんぽ" gets no hit on the search,
I guess it probably derives from "田(ta/da: rice field)".

●このまま永住したらどうだ？
　Kono mama eijuu shitara dou da
― How about just living here permanently already?
